What are patches and updates?
In English language to patch means to mend or repair according to Patch-3.mend, repair. A patch is a software update to existing software and operating system aimed at fixing bugs(errors) or malfunctions to make it more secure and improve its performance. Why patch?
Simply put, it is important to have effective patch management in place to prevent hackers from taking advantage of bugs(errors) in software and operating systems to steal data that the hackers can then monetize. Also, note that hackers may carry out a zero-day attack before there is a fix for the bug(error).
