  • From konbriefing: there has been a cyberattack on the insurance regulatory agency in New Mexico, Office of Superintendent of Insurance (OSI) – Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA (Santa Fe County) 
  • This is not an isolated incident and the OSI website went down as a result of the cyberattack. 
  • OSI took steps to mitigate the loss from the cyberattack. 

What happened?

According to kob.com the regulatory agency overseeing the insurance industry in New Mexico recently experienced a serious cyber incident on their network.  

It’s concerning to note that this is not an isolated incident in the state, as another agency, the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, was hacked in October of last year. The breach resulted in the exposure of sensitive data belonging to several organizations and individuals. 

How did this happen? 

There is no information yet as to what group was responsible for the cyberattack and how it happened. 

Who was impacted? 

Utep Network outgae is unreal.. 

The OSI website reportedly went down earlier this week and is still facing issues. 

What Steps were taken to mitigate loss?

The Office of the Superintendent of Insurance acted quickly to address the situation by; 

  • Enlisting the help of law enforcement, state IT experts, and third-party forensic investigators to conduct a thorough investigation.  
  •  These recent events highlight the importance of strong cybersecurity measures in protecting valuable information and preventing malicious attacks on government agencies and other organizations.
