Boeing has confirmed that its global services division is its parts and distribution business. has been impacted by a cyberattack. 

Who was affected? 

According to Cybersecurity Drive although the aerospace and defense company has not disclosed the nature of the attack, it has assured that flight safety is not affected. Some parts of the company’s global services site are currently down.

The group taking credit for the attack, LockBit, a Russian-affiliated ransomware group is a financially motivated threat actor that has been described as “one of the most active and destructive ransomware variants in the world.” 

Lockbit listed Boeing on its leak site and has threatened to release sensitive information if Boeing does not meet it demand before the deadline. 

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has reported that LockBit has attacked more than 1,700 organizations in the US and made at least $91 million in ransom demands since it first appeared in January 2020.

  • Boeing has not provided any confirmation regarding the identity of the threat actor or the specifics of the attack.  
  • Additionally, the company has not disclosed whether any ransom has been paid. 
  • Boeing is working diligently to investigate the incident and is closely collaborating with law enforcement and regulatory authorities.  
  • Boeing’s priority is to keep customers and suppliers informed and are in the process of notifying them of the situation.
